Local by default
Core recording, saving, browsing, mapping, and playback are built around files and metadata stored in EchoAtlas’s iOS app container.
Private by design
EchoAtlas is a local-first iPhone app. Your Echoes, recordings, photos, routes, and notes stay in the app’s storage unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.
One simple promise
At a glance
Core recording, saving, browsing, mapping, and playback are built around files and metadata stored in EchoAtlas’s iOS app container.
The app asks for microphone or location permission only when the related feature needs it. Photos are limited to images you explicitly choose with Apple’s picker.
There is no EchoAtlas account, advertising identifier, analytics profile, cross-app tracking, or third-party SDK.
Privacy Policy
This policy describes how EchoAtlas handles information when you use the iOS app and this privacy website. In short: the developer does not collect your app data, EchoAtlas does not track you, and your content is not sent to an EchoAtlas server.
Information & storage
EchoAtlas handles the information below to provide the feature you request. It is stored locally and is not collected by the developer. Files are protected using iOS data protection after your iPhone has first been unlocked following a restart.
Audio you record or import, recording duration, format, channel mode, and locally generated waveform data. These files remain inside EchoAtlas’s app storage until you delete them or explicitly share them.
Coordinates you choose to attach to an Echo, place names returned by Apple, and timestamped route points from a Journey you explicitly start. Ordinary location requests are one-time; continuous tracking is limited to an active Journey.
Titles, notes, tags, favorites, Journey names and descriptions, selected photos, dates, and the relationship between an Echo and a Journey. This information is stored locally in the app’s database.
Settings such as recording format, mono, stereo or Spatial Audio preference, recommended recording length, and whether the introduction has been shown. EchoAtlas uses these only to remember how you configured the app.
Permissions
iOS controls every sensitive permission. You can decline access or change it later in Settings. EchoAtlas does not attempt to work around your choice.
Continuous location updates run only while a Journey you explicitly started is active. They may continue while the app is in the background when you grant the required access, and stop immediately when you end the Journey. Force-quitting the app prevents continued tracking until you reopen it.
Apple services & sharing
Apple Maps and Apple’s reverse-geocoding services may use the network to display map content and turn coordinates into readable place names. Apple processes those requests under Apple’s own privacy policy; EchoAtlas does not receive an advertising or analytics profile from Apple.
When you tap Share, EchoAtlas prepares the selected audio and metadata locally and hands them to Apple’s system share sheet. Only the destination you choose receives those items, subject to that destination’s privacy practices.
iOS may include app information in an encrypted device or iCloud backup according to your Apple settings. EchoAtlas does not operate those backups or have access to them.
EchoAtlas does not embed advertising, analytics, social, attribution, or third-party data-broker SDKs. It does not sell or rent information.
Retention & deletion
Echoes and their private audio, photo, and waveform files remain on the device until you delete them or remove the app. Temporary drafts and share exports are managed inside the app’s storage. Apple-managed backups may retain earlier copies according to your backup and retention settings.
Your controls
Change microphone or location access in iOS Settings.
End an active Journey at any time to stop its continuous route tracking.
Edit locations and photos, delete Echoes or Journeys, or uninstall EchoAtlas.
Share only the Echo and metadata you select, with the destination you choose.
This website
This privacy website does not provide accounts, forms, advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, or non-essential cookies. The hosting infrastructure may process standard network information needed to securely deliver the page, such as an IP address and request metadata, under the provider’s own terms.
EchoAtlas does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else because the developer does not collect app content. If the app’s privacy practices materially change, this page will be updated and its effective date will change.
